He told how a pine tree can remain alive, but not grow taller when the tip is cut off. He said this is what happened to many Tribal Nations. Hope is in the new seed planted by the injured trees. This is but one of many forms of Indigenous American sacred art respecting the cirle of life, the blessings of the directions and other teachings. This has a purly indigenous history, but is fully compatible with Catholic teachings. Warmth from the south melting the ice from our hearts, Wisdom and Holy spirit, raind from the west quenching a thirsty land and parched hearts. One can go on an on with a basic symbol such as this. It is found in a number of Native American Catholic Churches.
