The young man with pinetree branches for arms and legs is symbolic of the broken tips of pine trees described in Joshua Seidl's talk given at a Native American Retreat. He told how a pine tree can remain alive, but not grow taller when the tip is cut off. He said this is what happened to many Tribal Nations. Hope is in the new seed planted by the injured trees.
